Acupuncture in Shipley

At Armoured Physiotherapy, we offer acupuncture as part of an individualised physiotherapy service. We take time to understand your symptoms and goals and assess whether acupuncture is appropriate for you.

Acupuncture is offered following an individual assessment. Where suitable, treatment can begin during your first appointment.

Could Acupuncture Be Suitable for Me?

Our acupuncture service focuses on musculoskeletal pain: pain involving muscles, joints and surrounding tissues.

Acupuncture may provide short-term relief for certain types of pain, including neck pain. Evidence varies between conditions, and treatment does not help everyone. We will discuss the potential benefits and limitations for your particular problem.

Some people also find treatment relaxing. If you are considering acupuncture for another concern, please contact us before booking.

What Happens When You Visit?

01

Assessment

We discuss your symptoms, medical history and goals, and assess your movement and function where appropriate.

02

Treatment, If Suitable

We explain the benefits, possible risks and alternatives. Treatment only proceeds with your consent. The treatment and needle positions are selected following your individual assessment.

03

Review and Rehabilitation

We review your response and use any improvement to support movement, exercise and your recovery goals. We may provide exercises or movement-based activities to work on between appointments.

Shoulder Acupuncture

Acupuncture around the back and shoulder. Treatment points are chosen following your individual assessment.

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves inserting very fine, sterile, single-use needles into selected points on the body.

Our physiotherapists have undertaken additional training in acupuncture. We use it within a physiotherapy approach, guided by your assessment, the available evidence and your preferences.

Supporting Your Recovery

If acupuncture eases your symptoms, we aim to use that improvement to help you move more comfortably, practise your exercises and return to activities that matter to you.

We may provide exercises to work on between appointments. We will review whether acupuncture is providing useful benefit and whether further sessions are worthwhile.

Discuss Your Options With Us
